Happy Monday! Sharing this sketchbook page from a few months back of a fern leaf because moving and lots of big life changes means I haven't created much of anything new in while. And although this page was created a while ago I have been feeling very inspired by nature lately. I have found myself seeking out rich green gardens and tree filled parks when I am not working and my heart flutters a bit every time I spy a patch of brightly colored wildflowers on the side of the road. You have probably noticed this a lot in my recent sketchbook pages which I hope we aren't tired of yet because I have more coming inspired by these little outdoor adventures that break up my week spent in between four walls these days.⁠⠀

Also, this leaf was drawn from a reference photo online and not from life because in case you didn't know I love plants but I am the worst plant mom. Feel free to leave ⁠⠀

I had been feeling reluctant to post a sketchbook

I had been feeling reluctant to post a sketchbook update because I’ve been falling behind in my daily goal and wanted to get “caught up”. But I’ve decided to keep moving forward and give my self some grace as these last weeks alone have been full of abundant change and there is only more to come. I’ve been inspired lately by Texas wildflowers and my experiences out in nature. These are days 78-81/365 of my daily challenge.⠀

Houston summers are hot and humid like back home in Florida but after being cooped up in the house so much these last several months it still feels reenergizing to change up my surroundings. Last weekend we spent a night in a little barn apartment on a family farm in a more rural area which was so therapeutic for me. We loved everything about it: the farm animals, fishing in the pond, taking walks and listening to the sound of birds. Fun fact: my boyfriend and I plan to buy our own small farm and raise animals like goats and chickens. ⠀

I have a lot of unfinished sketches from our time there that I will share soon as well as some of the Houston places I love and will miss when my time here comes to and end.⠀

I’ve been working through lots of blocks and just trying to trust the process of consistent art practice. It’s been a while but here is a #dailysketchbook challenge update. 🎨 🖌 📔 What I’m liking... drawing from life and being inspired by being out in the world (this has been hard). What I’m not liking... my experiments with acrylic gouache and lack of inspiration in my current daily routines. These are days 64-77/365. .
